You Shall Know Our Velocity

I recently read You Shall Know Our Velocity by Dave Eggers.

I liked this book. It is about two friends, Will and Hand, who had a third very close friend who was killed in a car accident despite the fact that he was obeying the law at the time of the accident. Will comes into some money from a relative, and doesn’t want to keep it. He and Hand decide to travel around the world and give the money away (sans the amount they need for their travels).

I liked the way this book illustrated the search for perfection in human dreams and the more mundane reality that often results. I.e., Will and Hand create some requirements for the places to which they will go, but circumstances result in their taking a different route.

I also like the way the book is written from Will’s “stream of consciousness” perspective.
